AWC Introduction Kayak Rolling - July 10, 2022
Introduction to Kayak Rolling. When you are comfortable rolling a kayak, you can take your paddling to a new level and many more waters are open for you to enjoy. This class will introduce students to the kayak sweep roll. Participants will first be taught how to safely exit their kayak when upside down. Next, the fundamentals of the sweep roll will be taught.
Although the class will be taught in still or slowly moving water, students should expect to swim. Some people prefer earplugs and swim goggles. Participants must provide their own hard-shell kayak, spray skirt, PFD, paddle, and helmet. Water, snacks, and sun screen are advised.
The course will meet at the Taos Junction Bridge at 9:00 am on Sunday, July 10 and will run approximately two hours. It is limited to 8 students.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are taking extra precautions. We recommend that all participants follow CDC and New Mexico Department of Health guidelines and avoid close contact with other participants unless it’s absolutely necessary. If you are feeling unwell or show any symptoms of Covid-19 on or shortly before the clinic, please stay home. We ask that you please bring a mask in case shuttle drivers are more comfortable with masked passengers.
