AWC Introduction To Oar-Powered RaftinG

Saturday-Sunday, June 7-8, 2025 9:00 am (8 hours over 2 days)

Topics:

  • Rigging raft, frame, and oars - gearing up-loading/packing concepts and options

  • Basic navigation: pull, push, ferries, pivots, shipping oars

  • Advancing personal skills: reading water, flips and wraps

  • River Safety principles, including mutual support (spacing and running order), throw bag and & “clean line” applications, Knots and hitches

Prerequisites: None

Clinic Cost: $80.00

ACA (American Canoe Association) Event Insurance: $10/person for non-ACA members (this is mandatory!!)

If you are an ACA member, event insurance is included in your membership. Please provide your ACA membership number in the form when registering.

All participants must sign the ACA online waiver. A parent or guardian must sign the online waiver for anyone under the age of 18.

Equipment needed: PFD, whitewater helmet (bicycle helmets not allowed), whistle, footwear that will protect your feet (no flip-flops), appropriate clothing for cold water and changing conditions, lunch/snacks, water, sun protection, a change of clothes.
