AWC Women of Whitewater Clinic - June 1-2, 2019 - Pagosa Springs, CO
The Adobe Whitewater Club will be hosting the Women of Whitewater Clinic June 1 & 2, 2019 in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. This will be two days of fun and skill development.
On Saturday, the clinic will be conducted on the San Juan within the Pagosa Springs Whitewater Park, where attendees will develop skills on the various features. Saturdays clinic will run from 1pm until 5pm.
On Sunday, the clinic will be conducted on the San Juan again, and we will run the stretch south of town to Trujillo Road, called Mesa Canyon. We will start the day at 9am and have a river lunch while we paddle through Mesa Canyon. We should be off the water no later than 5pm.
We will be working on developing skills including river reading, kayaking safety, whitewater skills and maneuvers, rolling, and group communications. We will be using river features for movement; such as surfing, boofing, and ferries. Attendees will look at the features on the river for strategic advantage vs avoidance. We will also work on some basic river safety and rescue scenarios that are effective and fast. We will wrap the day up with the ladder of success and a self-rating test for future river trips.
Both Stretches are considered Class III, and a roll is not required but extremely helpful due to the cold water from snow melt.
We will be camping at Pagosa Riverside Campground, they have tent camping space and RV hook ups. They also have a pond where we can further develop paddling skills and work on your roll before putting on the river.

ACA Event Insurance: $5/person (mandatory for non-ACA members)
