AWC Introduction To Frame Rafting (Oar-Powered rafting)
July 16 – 17 (12 hours over 2 days). We will meet at 9:00am Saturday morning at Lone Juniper. Class size limited to 10 students. You must register to attend.
Topics:
Rigging raft, frame, and oars
Gearing up-loading/packing concepts and options
Basic navigation: pull, push, ferries, pivots, shipping oars
Advancing personal skills: reading water, flips and wraps
River Safety principles, including mutual support (spacing and running order), throw bag and & “clean line” applications, knots and hitches
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are taking extra precautions. We recommend that all participants follow CDC and New Mexico Department of Health guidelines and avoid close contact with other participants unless it’s absolutely necessary. If you are feeling unwell or show any symptoms of Covid-19 on or shortly before the clinic, please stay home. We ask that you please bring a mask in case shuttle drivers are more comfortable with masked passengers.

Clinic Cost: $80.00
ACA (American Canoe Association) Event Insurance: $10/person for non-ACA members (this is mandatory!!) A parent or guardian must sign the waiver for anyone under the age of 18.
If you are an ACA member, event insurance is included in your membership. Please provide your ACA membership number below.
Red Tape: Attendees must be Adobe Club Members. Join or Renew here; the cost is $15/year and comes with lots of benefits!
Equipment needed: PFD, whitewater helmet (bicycle helmets not allowed), whistle, footwear that will protect your feet (no flip-flops), appropriate clothing for cold water and changing conditions, lunch/snacks, water, sun protection, a change of clothes.
